Data and methods for high-throughput protein tagging in Synechococcus elongatus PCC 7942.
CyanoTag uses high-throughput fluorescent tagging to discover the functions of proteins in a model photosynthetic bacterium. The project has targeted over 700 of the 2,714 proteins in S. elongatus (figures as of mid 2024).
The work is published in Science Advances: Perrin AJ, Dowson M, Davis K, Nam O, Dowle AA, Calder G, Springthorpe VJ, Zhao G, Mackinder LCM (2025). CyanoTag: Discovery of protein function facilitated by high-throughput endogenous tagging in a photosynthetic prokaryote.
